4 dies at DESUN -all tests negative.... 6 Covid-19 in Covid hospital ...In home quarantine 823 persons

DAILY REPORT 

NORTH BENGAL 
4 patients died: 4 patients died last night at DESUN Hospital  situated at Kawakhali in Siliguri but all tested negative to Covid-19. They were admitted in Isolation ward of the hospital and their swab test was sent for testing of Covid-19 and they tested negative. Their dead bodies were handed over to the relatives as they are not Covid –19 patients. 
All patients with complication related to respiratory illness and similar to Covid -19 symptoms are admitted at Desun Hospital which is one of the Severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) hospital for north Bengal. 
WHO has identified three categories of infection related to Covid-19.
1. Severe acute respiratory infections (SARI): An acute repiratory infection with a history of fever or measured fever of ≥ 38° C and cough with onset within the last 7 days and requires overnight hospitalization. 
2. Influenza like Illness (ILI): Acute onset within the last 10 days following respiratory symptoms, measured fever of ≥ 38° C and cough. 
3. Acute respiratory illness (ARI): Sudden onset of respiratory infection symptoms ( cough, sore throat shortness of breath, coryza)
Of these 4 dead patients, 2 are from Sukanta Pally and Ambedkar Colony  of Siliguri while other 2 are from Matelli of Jalpaiguri and Gaisal of Uttar Dinajpur.
Kalimpong patient released: One patient of Kalimpong admitted yesterday is released today after testing negative. 3 patients are admitted from Darjeeling district and the total from the district is 4.  
At Covid Hospital 6 patients under treatment:  Currently, 6 Covid-19 patients who donot belong to the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong are being treated at Dr. Chang’s Covid-19 hospital. As they tested positive for the second time their treatment is continued. 
3 admitted at NBMCH: 3 persons are admitted in Isolation ward of NBMCH and they are from Nehaljote of Naxalbari,  Dinhata and Jalpaiguri and another of Jalpaiguri. They are suspected to have been infected of Covid-19 but their swab test result is yet to be confirmed. 2 patients are already admitted in Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) of NBMCH since three days. 
As tomorrow, 21 doctors and 6 medical staff will complete their quarantine period , their final test will be done.
Several suspected people coming from other states and reaching north Bengal are admitted in different government designated Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) hospitals but test result of all came to be negative.

GTA 
7 patients in institutional and 823 in home quarantine: At quarantine centre of ITI, Upper Fagu Gorubathan under Kalimpong district, 3 persons are admitted for quarantine.
1 person in Batasia TB centre, and 3 in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong are undergoing quarantine. 
With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in self quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 415 to 461 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 304 to 362.

In the state 124 new cases (1 day before-153, 2 days before- 108) and 5 death (1 day before-14, 2 days before-11)  and  82 recovery (1 day before-45, 2 days before-49) cases is recorded today and the total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 2063 (1 day before-1939, 2 days before-1786) while active cases is 1374 (1 day before- 1337, 2 days before-1243) and death toll till now is 118. 
There is 72 death due to Co-morbidity while 499 (1 day before-417, 2 days before-372) are released after recovery.
The testing of samples of Covid-19 in the 18 (4 new) ICMR testing labs has been increasing steadily at a very good rate and today 4201 testing of samples (1 day before-4046, 2 days before-3601) within 24 hour could be completed that tally 47615 (1 day before-43414, 2 days before-39368) till now since day 1. 

A total of 19945 (1 day before-18458, 2 days before-14490) persons are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and number of home quarantined tally 90915  (1 day before-85477, 2 days before-80969) while 67619 (1 day before-67019, 2 days before-66479) people were released from home quarantine. 
Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are 6689 (1 day before-5921, 2 days before-5478) persons and so far from these centres 19945 (1 day before-19453, 2 days before-18796) persons were released in the past.  
Currently in the state there are 68 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 52 Private Covid-19 hospitals.

INDIA 
Today is the India’s nationwide lockdown's 46th day or the 6th day of the 3rd phase of lockdown, which has been extended till May 17. Restrictions have been eased in non-hotspot areas from today.

In the last 24 hours, 97 deaths (1 day before-128, 2 days before-95) taking the death toll to 2206 (1 day before-2109, 2 days before-1981) and  4213 (1 day before-3277 , 2 days before-3390) new cases, has been recorded in the whole country. 67152 Confirmed cases (1 day before-62939, 2 days before-59662) and 44029 (1 day before-41472, 2 days before-39834) active cases are recorded today. 

Today 1558 people that tally 20916 (1 day before-19358, 2 days before-17846) have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 22171 (1 day before-20228, 2 days before-19063) cases and 832 (1 day before-779, 2 days before-731) deaths and 4199 (1 day before-3800, 2 days before-3470) recovery. 

The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat, it has 8194 (1 day before-7797, 2 days before-7402) confirmed cases and 493 (1 day before-472, 2 days before-449) death and 2545 (1 day before-2091, 2 days before-1872) recovery and release from Hospital.

The next is Tamilnadu which has exceeded the record of Delhi with 7204 (1 day bfeore-6535) confirmed cases and 47 (1 day bfeore-44) death and 2061 (1 day before-1824) recovery.
