3 Covid patients released after testing negative… 67 new cases in 24 hrs recorded in North Bengal…In GTA area 121 in institutional and 2748 in home quarantine.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 24 May 2020: With the increase in the arrival of number of labourers, workers and students in bus and train the number of Covid- positive patients is increasing. State government had requested the ministry of railways to not send any Shramik Special trains to the state till May 26 as officials are busy in relief work after the havoc wreaked by Cyclone Amphan. The request of the state is not granted and the trains are moving as per the schedule.

Shantiniketan housing Complex, Shrusutanagar of Matigara Block is no more a containment zone. Shantiniketan housing Complex at Shrusutanagar where a nurse use to live with her family and the nurse of Lebong and working at NBMCH along with her husband, son and mother inlaw were found Covid positive. The nurse and her mother-in-law tested negative and were released on 27 April and her husband and 22 month child tested negative and were released on 3 May. 


NORTH BENGAL 
Covid hospital
67 Covid patients admitted: During the last 24 hours, an alarming number of 67 new case of Covid infected patients is recorded from North Bengal. 34 from Uttar Dinajpur, 31 from Malda (101 confirmed cases), and 1 from Coochbehar and 1 from Darjeeling is recorded. It is feared that with the return of the labourers, the number of positive patients may increase more in the next few days.  

Meanwhile, VRDL laboratory of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital is flooded with huge number of swab samples from the districts for Covid-19 RTPCR tests and about 6 thousand samples are backlogged and in the waiting list to be tested and reports prepared. Considering this, only a limited number of samples are being accepted by the laboratory. Only 50 samples per district for the time being will be accepted, the laboratory authority has stated.

3 Covid Patient tested negative and released: 3 Covid-19 positve patients admitted at Dr. Chang’s Superspeciality Covid Hospital are released today. They were in the isolation since 24 days and had done two consecutive tests which resulted to negative. 
One eye specialist doctor of NBMCH (resident of Kolkata), 1 ambulance driver of Chennai and 1 patient of Alipurduar related to the kidney patient are the patients released today after they tested negative to Covid-19 twice. They are advised to undergo another 14 days’ home quarantine.
Yesterday, a 32 year old patient of Patiramjote tested negative twice and was released. His wife and son also tested negative but could not be released till late in the night and were released today.
Remaining 5 patients are-a 40 year old insurance agent of Deshbandhupara-Babuparu of ward no. 27;  a 48 yr old fruit vendor of Dangipara -ward no. 6 and his 10 year old son. Other patient is a 28 year man of Adarshanagar, Ward no. 4 who had been to Delhi and admitted yesterday.Fifth patient is from Coochbehar and admitted today.

DESUN (SARI)
In DESUN severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) Hospital, there are 12 patients under treatment for symptoms of Covid- 19 like illness. 2 of these 12 are in the ICU in serious condition with respiratory difficulties. Swab test of 7 is already done.
There is 1 patient each from Darjeeling and Kalimpong district. 

NBMCH
Presently 2 patients of Pundibari and Phansidewa are admitted in the Isolation ward-1 of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. 
There is one patient in the Isolation ward-2 of the surgical department. 
The child of Panjipara who was in serious condition and admitted in the RICU (Respiratory) ward has recovered and shifted to the Pediatric Ward. 

GTA
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 24 May 2020: 121 (yesterday 93) persons are in institutional and 2748 (yesterday 2644) area in home quarantine of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. 
Institutional quarantine facilities:-
In ITI Upper Fagu, Gorubathan, all 5 are released. 
In Mungpoo ITI at Takdah 6 persons.
19 persons are admitted at Batasia TB centre, 6 released.
13 are admitted in Old Railway Hospital of Kurseong,5 released. 
At Pokhriabong PHC 15 are admitted. 
At Mirik College, 30 are admitted. 
At Jamuni GTA Guest House, Pulbazar, 38 are admitted.
121 (yesterday 93) patients are now in 6 different institutional quarantines. 

With the home coming of students and other people from other states, the number of people in home quarantine at their residence in the district of Darjeeling is increased from 1651 to 1726 while in Kalimpong district it is increased from 993 to 1022. 
Altogether there are 2748 (yesterday 2644) persons are in home quarantine. Those who recently came from different states are now kept in the institutional quarantines till their swab test result confirms their negative to Covid-19. Swab testing so far has tested negative of all the travelers.

STATE 
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 24 May 2020: In the state new cases 208(1 day before-127 , 2 days before- 135) and 3 death (1 day before-4 , 2 days before-6) and 58 recovery (1 day before-60, 2 days before-28) is recorded today. The total number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in West Bengal is 3667 (1 day before-3459, 2 days before-3332) while active cases is 2057 (1 day before-1909, 2 days before-1846) and death toll till now is 200 (1 day before-197, 2 days before-193).
There is 72 death due to Co-morbidity while 1339 (1 day before-1281, days before-1221) are released after recovery. 
The testing of swab samples for Covid-19 in 33, ICMR testing labs is being done at a very good rate and today 9216 (1 day before-9009, 2 days before--5355) samples within 24 hour were tested that tally 138824 (1 day before-129608, 2 days before-120599) till now since day 1.    

Today 102349 persons (1 day before-102268, 2 days before- 98456) are currently under home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance and total 176957 persons (1 day before-17635, 2 days before-171954) were in the home quarantine/ observation/ surveillance. 
Number of people released from home quarantine was 74608 (1 day before-74088, 2 days before-73498). 
Currently in the 582 institutional government quarantine centres there are  16265 persons (1 day before-15193, 2 days before-14614) and so far from these centres 39538 persons (1 day before-38089, 2 days before-36651) were released in the past. 
Currently in the state there are 69 Hospitals dedicated for treating COVID-19, 16 Government Covid hospitals and 53 Private Covid-19 hospitals.
