STATE AND LOCAL STATUS ON COVID 19: OFFICIAL BULLETIN

KalimNews, 4 April 2020, Kalimpong:  As per the Press Brief of the West Bengal Government on COVID-19, for the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in the state there are currently 7 testing labs, 5 Government hospitals and 2 private hospitals. More are waiting for approval from ICMR. 

So far 1040 tests have been done and  there are a total of 49 active cases in Bengal,11 new cases were found in the last 24 hours and 6 of these are from the same family in Kalimpong. (This totals to 10 of the same family including the deceased 44 year old lady and a 35 year old domestic helper of the family). 

Till now 3 deaths are recorded due to COVID-19. 

Of the positive cases 4 more are getting released shortly after their tests were found negative. 5 others are also close to being released. 

Some more have died but that is because of pre-morbidity. 

An Expert Committee to audit the deaths has been setup, the official information will be given out later on.

516 quarantine centres have been setup in Bengal and 2626 people are currently in the government centres and 52,800 in home surveillance.

State has received 13,500 more PPEs. Total PPEs received and distributed is 1,80,100. Total number of N95 masks given out is 75,750 and more is expected. 8,000 litres sanitizers have been given out in the last 24 hours, which takes the total to 33,600 litres.

There are 4 COVID-19 hospitals in Kolkata while 55 are in various districts.

Cluster and hotspots are now being identified. 

Health officials have already quarantined a person, and those who he may have interacted with, in Purba Medinipur.

Due to delay in the updation of the data on the details of the coronavirus infected persons and others related to it, the figures in different offices and their respective sites doesnot tally to one another. Of course, the record also varies from time to time.
