Patients with respiratory symptoms in the "Containment zone" to be treated as suspected Covid-19 cases 'until proven otherwise'... Covid-19 drill for all patients in hot zones....

Mudur, TT, 23.04.20, New Delhi: The Union health ministry has asked hospitals in Covid-19 containment zones such as hotspots with large outbreaks or clusters to treat patients with respiratory symptoms as suspected Covid-19 cases “until proven otherwise”, initiating protocols needed amid community transmission.

The ministry has released guidelines for “non-Covid-19 health facilities” that say hospitals located in the proximity of or catering to Covid-19 containment zones should “as a matter of abundant precaution” treat such patients as suspected Covid-19 cases and practise standard infection control.

The hospital’s infection control panel should investigate, inform local health authorities and assess the clinical status of such patients before referral to a dedicated Covid-19 hospital. Only one dedicated healthcare worker should attend to such patients.
