Kalimpong area sanitised... GTA Installs infrared thermal scanner..

KalimNews, 22 April 2020, Kalimpong: Since Kalimpong was declared as Containment Zone and Buffer Zone, Kalimpong town looks deserted rest of the day except in the morning time when people came out for shopping. Transport vehicles also plied in the morning time for downloading the essential food items.
Police has placed barricades at different points of the town. Today the town area of Kalimpong was sanitised with Sodium Hypochlorite by Fire Brigade personnels. 
Meanwhile, GTA have installed infrared thermal scanner at Simulbari the gateway to Kurseong and Darjeeling and will soon install at Chitery the entry point to Kalimpong for scanning the people going through these routes. Anit Thapa, Chairman of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration said that these scanners are hi-tech scanner and first of its kind in North Bengal which are installed at Airports. It is said to be more discrete, efficent and effective in identifying individuals that need further screening with Virus specific tests. It will check the body temperature of all individuals instantly and reliably. Dedicated staff members of GTA will continuously monitor the LED screen, at these two entrance points.

DAILY REPORT

GTA

4 people (2 nurses and husband and mother in law of one of the nurse) of GTA area are admitted in Dr. Chang's Superspeciality Covid 19 Hospital. There are 1 person in the Isolation ward and 1 person in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
At the quarantine centre of Gorubathan located at ITI of Upper Fagu under kalimpong District there are 16 asymptomic people. 

Including 2 people of Kalimpong district having Influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms 7 people are admitted at Desun Hospital in Siliguri for further investigation on suspected Covid 19 cases and testing. 

As of today the number of people in self quarantine are 134 in Darjeeling and 50 in Kalimpong districts.

STATE

In the last 24 hours, 26 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported taking the total number of active cases in the state to 300, the total number of active cases is 300.

An official release of the West Bengal Health and family welfare department on Covid-19 states that 855 samples were tested within 24 hour totalling 7037 samples for Covid-19 in the state.

The number of testing labs also has been increased to 12, they are- NICED, SSKM, Medinipore MCH, North Bengal MCH, School of Tropical Medicine, Apollo Hospital, Tata Medical Centre, Dr. Lal’s Pathlab, Maldah MCH, Command Hospital, R.G. Kar MCH, and CNCI.

As of today 31023 persons are under home observation/surveillance and 28161 persons have completed surveillance. 

Till today under hospital isolation 3505 persons have been admitted and presently the total number of people infected by COVID-19 contagion in West Bengal is 274. So far from the 66 Covid-19 Hospital of the state 3231 persons (79  today) have been discharged from hospital isolation after completing quarantine period. In the state there are 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 15784 persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 11089 persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative). 

INDIA

With 1486 new cases within 24 hours, a tally of 20471 confirmed cases with 15859 active cases of COVID-19 is reported in the country. As many as 3959 have been cured/discharged after recovery. Within 24 hour 44 more death totalling to 652 (49+) death is recorded in the country. 

The highest cases is recorded in Maharashtra as 5218 (+549) confirmed with 251 (+19) deaths and release of 722 (+150) after recovery. 
The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat which has outnumbered Delhi , it has 2178 (+112) confirmed cases and 90 (+13) death and 139 (+8) recovery and release from Hospital.
The next is Delhi with 2156 confirmed cases and 47 death and 611 recovery.  The next highest death is Madhya Pradesh with 90 death.

2144 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals have been identified at both Centre and State level which includes 755 dedicated COVID hospitals and 1389 Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC).
