DAILY REPORT
GTA
5 patients (2 nurses and child, husband and mother in law of one of the nurse) are admitted in the isolation centre of Dr. Chang's Superspeciality Covid 19 Hospital .
At the quarantine centre of Gorubathan located at ITI of Upper Fagu under kalimpong District 16 asymptomic people are in quarantine.
1 person of Sukhia Pokhari admitted at Desun Hospital was released after his report was found negative.
As of today the number of people in self quarantine is 152 in Darjeeling and 50 in Kalimpong districts.
STATE
Three novel coronavirus patients have died in West Bengal, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 18 in the state.
During the last 24 hours, 51 new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Kolkata and districts of Howrah, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Purba Burdwan and Purba Medinipur.
The total number of COVID-19 cases in West Bengal is 503 while active cases are 385. The Union health and family welfare ministry website puts it at 514.
An official release of the West Bengal Health and family welfare department on Covid-19 states that 943 samples were tested within 24 hour totalling 8933 samples for Covid-19 in the state.
As of today 26716 persons are under home observation/surveillance and 33922 persons have completed surveillance.
Till today under hospital isolation 3659 persons have been admitted and presently the total number of people infected by COVID-19 contagion in West Bengal is 456. So far from the 66 Covid-19 Hospital of the state 3391 persons (103 today) have been discharged from hospital isolation after completing quarantine period while 269 are still admitted and undergoing treatment. In the state there are 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 16766 persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 11576 persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative).
INDIA
The death toll from coronavirus pandemic worldwide rose by over 4,500 to 186,462 over the past 24 hours while the number of Covid-19 infections increased by 68,017, according to an AFP tally.
Coronavirus cases in India have surged to 23,077 confirmed cases, including 718 deaths. As many as 4749 people have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.
Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 6,427 cases and 283 deaths and 840 recovery. With 522 more people testing positive, Mumbai alone has 4,025 coronavirus cases as of Thursday.
The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat which has outnumbered Delhi , it has 2624 confirmed cases and 112 death and 258 recovery and release from Hospital.
The next is Delhi with 2376 confirmed cases and 50 death and 808 recovery. The next highest death is Madhya Pradesh with 83 death.
2144 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals have been identified at both Centre and State level which includes 755 dedicated COVID hospitals and 1389 Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC).
