Covid 19 report on 26 April 2020 - GTA, State and India




KalimNews, Kalimpong, 26 April 2020:Government of India is taking all necessary steps to ensure that we are prepared well to face the challenge and threat posed by the growing pandemic of COVID-19 the Corona Virus. 
With active support of the people of India, we have been able to contain the spread of the Virus in our country. The most important factor in preventing the spread of the Virus locally is to empower the citizens with the right information and taking precautions as per the advisories being issued by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
On 14 April 2020, the Prime Minister announced the extension of the earlier 21-day nationwide lockdown till 3 May 2020.

GTA
2 nurse and family members of a nurse (her child, husband and mother in law) admitted in the isolation centre of Dr. Chang's Superspeciality Covid 19 Hospital are under treatment since they tested Covid 19 positive. 
2 people of Kalimpong are continuing their quarantine in the quarantine centre of Gorubathan located at ITI of Upper Fagu under Kalimpong district.
At Desun Hospital in Siliguri, 2 persons of Darjeeling and 10 from Kalimpong district who are not Covid -19 patients are under treatment for immunity related symptoms.
As of today the number of people in self quarantine is decreased from 170 to 153 in Darjeeling and from 61 to 49 in Kalimpong district.

STATE
With the death of two medical staff the number of death in the state is increased to 20. The total number of COVID-19 cases in West Bengal is 611 while active cases is 461 (yesterday-423).
Biplab Kanti Dasgupta 60 Additional Director of Health Services died late last night at a private hospital in Kolkata. The doctor's wife has also tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing treatment.
An official release of the West Bengal Health and family welfare department on Covid-19 states that 1013 samples were tested within 24 hour totalling 10893 samples for Covid-19 in the state.
As of today 21288 (yesterday-23618) persons are under home observation/surveillance and 39774 (yesterday-36975) persons have completed surveillance. 
Till today under hospital isolation 3787 (yesterday-3726) persons have been admitted and presently the total number of people infected by COVID-19 contagion in West Bengal is 461 (yesterday-423). So far 3582 persons (63-today) have been discharged from hospital isolation after completing quarantine period while 205 are still admitted and undergoing treatment. In the state there are 66 Covid Hospitals and 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 17733 persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 12369 persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative). 

INDIA 
The pandemic has so far killed more than 2.9 million people across the world and infected more than 200,000 died of it  while 837,000 recovered.
Coronavirus cases in India have surged to 26,817 confirmed cases, 20177 active case, including 826 deaths. As many as 5,803 people have recovered so far according to the latest update released by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare.
Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 7,628 (811+ new) cases and 323 (+22) deaths and 957 recovery. 
The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat which has outnumbered Delhi , it has 3071 confirmed cases and 133 death and 282 recovery and release from Hospital.
The next is Delhi with 2625 confirmed cases and 54 death and 869 recovery.  
2144 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals have been identified at both Centre and State level which includes 755 dedicated COVID hospitals and 1389 Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC).
