Central team satisfied with facilities in Jalpaiguri COVID hospital

Central team satisfied with facilities in Jalpaiguri COVID hospitalAmitava Banerjee | MP | 17 April 2020 | Darjeeling: The Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) expressed satisfaction regarding medical facilities at the COVID-19 hospital in Jalpaiguri, along with facilities being provided at the relief camp. They also stressed on the need for public awareness on social distancing. 
The 5 member Central team visited the Jalpaiguri district on Monday. They visited Jyotinagar located at Siliguri Municipal Corporation ward number 41, which has been an earmarked as a hotspot and has been cordoned off. 
Jyotinagar had a number of COVID-19 cases, with members of a family being affected. Incidentally, a relative of the family from Kalimpong had stayed with them and had later returned for treatment. The 45-year-old lady had then tested positive and subsequently passed away on March 30.

Following this, members of the Jyotinagar family tested positive and were under treatment at Dr Chang's Nursing Home. They have all been cured since. 
The containment area and the buffer zone have been cordoned off in and around Jyotinagar. The team spoke to local residents and policemen on duty, inquiring about the lockdown and the facilities available to the local residents amidst the restrictions on movement. 
The Central team also visited the Fulbari truck terminal, where they met the truck drivers. Accompanied by a state government officer, the team visited quarantine centres at Rajgunj and Raninagar. The Raninagar quarantine centre is located in a tea garden. 
The IMCT had a meeting with district medical authorities at the COVID-19 hospital at Biswa Bangla Krirangan in Jalpaiguri. 
"This facility is nicely maintained. This facility was made in a very short time. We were provided necessary data from the hospital. We will study the information provided and give a consolidated report," stated Vineet Joshi, leader of the team. 
The Central team also visited a relief camp in the district. When questioned on the relief camp, Joshi stated,"There were 50 people in the camp. We spoke to them. The beneficiaries seemed happy with the facilities being provided in the camp."
