KalimNews, 23 April 2020, Kalimpong: On the 30th day of lockdown, situation in Kalimpong under national lockdown is peaceful and almost completely followed.
Kalimpong is declared a Containment Zone and Buffer Zone by the administration since Monday. Only vehicles carrying essential goods are plying from Kalimpong to Siliguri. Though there is complain of not following the lockdown by some persons and in the pretext of using private vehicles as ambulance, some people are using them for their business purpose. Himalayan Transport Coordination Committee, Darjeeling has raised its objection regarding the matter.
Today the Inter- Ministerial Central team visited areas of Siligur and a quarantine centre. They might visit Kalimpong and Darjeeling tomorrow.

DAILY REPORT
GTA
With the 22 month child of a nurse the number of Covid 19 patients increased to 5 (2 nurses and child, husband and mother in law of one of the nurse). They are admitted in Dr. Chang's Superspeciality Covid 19 Hospital.
At the quarantine centre of Gorubathan located at ITI of Upper Fagu under kalimpong District there are 16 asymptomic people who are completing their quarantine period.
2 people of Kalimpong district having Influenza like illness (ILI) symptoms 7 people admitted at Desun Hospital in Siliguri tested negative and were released today. Today another person from Sukhia Pokhari with ILI is admitted at Desun Hospital.
As of today the number of people in self quarantine is increased to 153 in Darjeeling and decreased to 49 in Kalimpong districts.
STATE
In the last 24 hours, 58 new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported taking the total number of active cases in the state to 334 and 103 were released after recovery. There is no further report of death, total death being 15.
An official release of the West Bengal Health and family welfare department on Covid-19 states that 863 samples were tested within 24 hour totalling 7990 samples for Covid-19 in the state.
As of today 28433 persons are under home observation/surveillance and 31186 persons have completed surveillance.
Till today under hospital isolation 3595 persons have been admitted and presently the total number of people infected by COVID-19 contagion in West Bengal is 456. So far from the 66 Covid-19 Hospital of the state 3291 persons (60 today) have been discharged from hospital isolation after completing quarantine period. In the state there are 582 Institutional Quarantine Centres in which 16278 persons are kept in Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative) and so far 11380 persons have been released from Institutional Quarantine (Cumulative).
INDIA
With 1409 new cases within 24 hours, a tally of 21700 confirmed cases with 16689 active cases of COVID-19 is reported in the country. As many as 4324 have been cured/discharged after recovery. Within 24 hour 34 more death totalling to 686 death is recorded in the country.
The highest cases is recorded in Maharashtra as 5652 confirmed with 268 deaths and release of 789 after recovery.
The second highest increase is observed in Gujrat which has outnumbered Delhi , it has 2407 confirmed cases and 103 death and 179 recovery and release from Hospital.
The next is Delhi with 2248 confirmed cases and 48 death and 724 recovery. The next highest death is Madhya Pradesh with 81 death.
2144 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals have been identified at both Centre and State level which includes 755 dedicated COVID hospitals and 1389 Dedicated COVID Health Centres (DCHC).
