Concerts to remember Sonam Sherpa in Darjeeling and Kalimpong Sources said Darjeeling police have also decided to partner the event
Vivek Chhetri, TT, 6.03.20, Darjeeling: Residents of Darjeeling and Kalimpong have decided to pool in funds to organise a concert in the two hill towns to pay tribute to Sonam Sherpa, the lead guitarist of “Parikrama”.
Sherpa, 48, also a founding member of the band had breathed his last on February 14 in Kurseong. He hailed from Kalimpong.
“We want to pay a fitting tribute to one of our wizards. Sonam’s friends and fans have decided to pull in funds to organise the concert,” said Samir Sharma, an organiser.
Sources said Darjeeling police have also decided to partner the event.
“On April 10, the first concert will be held at the Mela Ground in Kalimpong. Parikrama will perform there. Another concert will be organised in Darjeeling at Chowrasta on April 11,” said Pragya Lama, member of Mantra, a Darjeeling band.
Some of the famous Nepali bands will also perform in Darjeeling, along with local singers and musicians.
