CM for shifting Alipurduar quarantine centre

SNS, ALIPURDUAR, 30 MARCH 2020: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today asked the Alipurduar District Magistrate to change the coronavirus quarantine centre from the Falakata Super Specialty Hospital to the Ayush Hospital in the Tapsikhata village under the Alipurduar police station.

Alipurcluar officials including the Superintendent of Police Amitava Malty and health officials and staff today joined a video conference with Miss Banerjee to take stock of the COVID-19 situation.

The CM also ordered deployment of senior police officer Ajay Nanda to look into matters related to policing in Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri and CoochBehar districts, it is learnt.

"The CM gave additional importance to these three districts of Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and Jalpaiguri that share their borders," sources said.

The Alipurduar district administration has readied 50 quarantine centres blockwise with 3000 beds in Alipurduar district.The centre with 30 beds in the Falakata Super speciality Hospital has already started operations, it is learnt.

"There are 7414 persons,  including 143 who came from other countries, under home quarantine in Alipurduar district," sources said, adding that at least nine persons have been kept under hospital quarantine.

Officials in the district, however, did not want to speak on today's video conference with Miss Banerjee.

"We are fighting Covid- 19. We have also readied block-wise quarantine centre. No positive case has been found in our district till date," the deputy Chief medical officer of health -2", Dr Subarna Goswami said.
