SNS, 16 February 2020, DARJEELING/KURSEONG: Several people, including family members, friends and fans today bid a final farewell to guitarist Sonam Sherpa of the popular Indian rock and roll band, 'Parikrama' as he was laid to rest in his hometown in Kalimpong town.

director of a Hindi/Nepali film 'Broken wings,' a portion of which was being shot in the town for the past one month.
The funeral service for the departed was held at the Hebron Church in Kalimpong, while he was later laid to rest at the 'Garden of Remembrance' at Dr Grahams' Homes School.
According to Sherpa's friends in Darjeeling, he had expressed his desire to perform in his hometown of Kalimpong, and that he was scheduled to perform at the Platinnum Jubilee celebrations of St. Augustine's School there later this year.
Talking to reporters in Kurseong on Friday, the director and writer of the film, Mr Shenpenn said Sherpa was supposed to leave Kurseong the very day he died, after he had completed shooting for his music part on 12 February.

"However I received a call from the hotel that day about an unconscious Sonam lying in the hotel room. He was rushed to the Kurseong hospital, where he was declared brought dead," Mr Shenpenn said. "Earlier too, Sonam had a cardiac arrest in Delhi. I met him this morning and he was all well," he said in Kurseong on Friday.
Darjeeling Member of Parliament Raju Bista has expressed sadness and: "I join all the music lovers across India, especially Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Sikkim in mourning the death of one of the most iconic musicians from our region, Sonam Sherpa ji. His music has touched many lives across India and the world."
"Sonam Daju was an Icon for every Youth, who dared to dream. His life was a testament to hard-work, passion and perseverance all coming together to chart a new course in the annals of Indian music. He was a trailblazer, whose rich legacy will continue to inspire us all," he added.
