Homemaker & daughter killed, buried

The incident sparked tension in the village and a section of locals set fire on the house of accused on Thursday morning in protest. Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies. They are in search of the accused, who has fled the village.
Sources said couple of years back, Akbar Alam, a resident of Halugach village and a farmer by occupation, got married with Nurja Khatun of the same village. Recently, Nurja gave birth to a girl child.
On Wednesday evening, the couple had an altercation and later at night Akbar killed both his wife and their daughter with some sharp weapon and then buried both the bodies near his house.
As some villagers found his activities suspicious in the morning, Akbar fled the village.
Locals started probing and soon learnt about the crime that he has committed. A section of them got agitated and set fire on his house.
Police were informed who rushed to the spot. Also, fire engines reached the village and doused the flames.
"Ever since they had got married, there had been problems among them. We have intervened time and again to resolve the issues. On Thursday morning, a local resident went to Akbar's house on some errand. The house was vacant and the doors were open. This left him suspicious. After some time, some others were moving through a vacant plot near his house while on way to their fields. They found that a portion of the land has been recently dug and earth has been refilled. Also, there were blood marks. This raised the suspicion," said Latifur Rehman, a member of the local panchayat.
