30 BJP leaders announce resignation

SNS, 14 December 2019, Darjeeling: Around 30 leaders of the BJP Hills (Darjeeling) District commmittee today announced their resignation from their posts and said that they have not been able to do anything organisation-wise with no proper directions given to them by their party leaders.
'those quitting the party included Darjeeling district BJP (Hills) general secretary Anil Sharma, BJP Kurseong women's wing convener Priyanka Chettri, Kalimpong Rangpo-Munsung constituency party president Hemant Chettri, Kurseong Tung-St Mary's unit convenor, S Tamang, Kalimpong constituency-36 president Uttam Rai and Kurseong Tung-St. Mary's unit president Umesh Pradhan.
The party members, however, said they will remain with the party for now, until they formally file their resignation letters.
'remain reason as to why we have decided to resign is that I have been working in the party since 2014. Though we are working from outposts, we are facing a lot of problems working from the ground level. We want to strengthen our party. which is one of our main duties, but we have not been able to do that in a full-fledged manner. 'the reason for this is that we have no proper directions from our higher committees,"said the BJP(Hills) general secretary Anil Shama.
They, however, said they do not want to comment on issues like 'permanent political solution' or the National Register of Citizens and the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).
"It is the state committee that gives directions to the district level committee. I feel that this responsibility has not been given by the state committee, as till now it has not been made clear to us as how to move ahead and present-the party to the people," Mr Sharma said.
On the other hand, the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (Binoy Tamang camp) condemned a statement made by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey from the Godda constituency in Jharkhand in the parliament yesterday.
Mr Dubey alleged that Congress MP Mani Kumar Subba was from Nepal and that he was the one who brought illegal migrants from Bangladesh to the northeast areas.
"We condemn the statement made by Dubey yesterday, where he alleged that the late Mani Kumar Subba who became the MP thrice was from Nepal and that he was the one who helped increase the number of illegal immigrants in the northeast from Nepal and Bangladesh It is not only Dubey who has made such statements. Before the elections, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia had said that those who were speaking about a 'bhumiputra' were from Nepal, along with BJP leader Dinesh Trivedi saying that the Gorkha regiment was from Nepal. If BJP leader Amit Shah recently labelled Gurkhas as being illegal immigrants, this time Dubey has done that directly. This shows the attitude of the BJP towards the Gorkhas." the Tamang camp Darjeeling sub-division unit spokesperson, Sandeep Chettri, said.
Mr Chettri claimed that these were the reasons why BJP leaders in the hills had been resigning from their party.
