Darjeeling Hills University constituted , renamed to Greenfield University
It may be mentioned that the Greenfield University was constituted by the Greenfield University Act, 2018, in the district of Darjeeling.
The change has been effected keeping in view the persistent demand from the local people that the varsity be renamed to Darjeeling Hills University. Considering the feasibility of the demand of the local people, the state government subsequently decided to rename Greenfield University.
Meanwhile, the state government has bifurcated two departments for administrative efficiency.
The department of Industry Commerce and Enterprises has been bifurcated into two departments, namely department of Industry Commerce and Enterprises and department of Public Enterprises and Industrial Reconstruction.
The department of Power and Non-Conventional Energy Resources has also been divided into department of Power and department of Non-Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources.
The Governor has given assent to both the bifurcations on Wednesday.
