Health cover for Sikkim staff
Jacob Khaling, SKM spokesperson and political secretary to chief minister P. S. Tamang (Golay), listed the health insurance scheme as one the important initiatives of his party's government in its first 100 days in office.
"Our government has decided to provide health insurance to all government employees, from Grade A, C, D to MR (muster roll), ad hoc and work charge, up to Rs 20 lakh…This is at an advanced state (of implementation) and the only thing that remains to be done is seal the deal with the insurance company," Khaling said a news conference here.
Sources in the state health department confirmed that it has been tasked with working out a scheme to provide health insurance to all government employees who number about a lakh, including temporary employees like muster roll and work charge.
"We have been asked to roll out the scheme by January 2020," said a source.
