Man beaten up for not chanting Jai Shri Ram

Man beaten up for not chanting Jai Shri RamAmitava Banerjee, MP, 28 June 2019, Darjeeling: A man has been arrested here for allegedly assaulting a person for not chanting "Jai Shri Ram."
The incident occurred in Toofangunj in the Cooch Behar district.
On May 29, in Dhalpal, a daily wage worker Asgar Ali was roughed up by a group for not chanting "Jai Shri Ram." The persons who roughed him up were allegedly led by Apasi Mia. They beat him up and made him do squats. The whole incident was video-recorded and uploaded on social media.
An FIR was lodged and Mia was arrested on Thursday night.
He was produced at the Toofangunj Additional Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday and was remanded to three days of police custody.
Abdul Jalil Ahmed, TMC leader stated: "This culture has been imported to Bengal by the BJP. We vehemently condemn this. Stringent action is needed."
"Its internal rivalry between rival factions of the TMC."Jai Shri Ram" has been used to taint BJP's image," stated BJP leader Malati Rava Rai.
