Govt to fill up Panchayat vacancies under GTA soon
Based on this, the Principal Secretary of the GTA has written to the District Magistrates of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, to initiate the process of recruitment.
The notification states that several posts in establishments under Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samities are lying vacant in the GTA area for a long time.
"The huge number of vacancies in the post of Nirman Sahayak, Executive Assistant, Secretary, Sahayak, Gram Panchayat karmees and other posts of Panchayat Samities such as BIO, SEO, DIO and Deputy Secretary of PS are severely hampering the development works as well as the basic services which are provided to the rural people under the Panchayat Raj system," reads the notification.
The state government has constituted District Level Selection Committees in the Hill Areas of the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong falling under the areas of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration.
"You are requested to initiate the process of recruitment immediately and make necessary arrangements to call the meeting of the District Level Selection Committees," stated the notification from the Principal Secretary, GTA, who is the chairman of the committee.
"We have had multiple meetings with the state government so that all vacancies in the GTA areas can be filled up, which in turn will ease the unemployment problem of the Hills," said Anit Thapa, chairman, GTA.
