The Meghalaya Survey Report, 2018, has pointed out that voters’ priorities in Meghalaya have “largely been neglected” by the government in power. The survey pointed out that this was clear from the fact that the government has performed poorly on all top 10 governance issues as rated by the voters. The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and RA Asterisc Computing & Data Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (RAAC) conducted the survey across the country between October 2018 and December 2018.
In Meghalaya, the survey covered 1,000 respondents across two parliamentary constituencies — Shillong and Tura. The voters comprised 91% from rural areas and 9% were from urban areas. There were 69% male voters. On Meghalaya, this report provides an analysis of the 10 most important governance issues as rated by the voters (out of the 31 listed in the questionnaire). These voters’ priorities are further examined in relation to the performance of the government on those issues as perceived by the respondents.
