Modi’s Varanasi Election Management Team Arrives In Siliguri, To Help Raju Bista

Wepen, Siliguri: The professional election management team that helped PM Narendra Modi clinch the Varanasi seat in 2014 has arrived in Siliguri, reported ETVBharat. Headed by Rakesh Saxena, this team will work in coordination with party workers, agents and cadres.

Armed with the best possible minds in publicity and booth management, members of this team are likely to help and actively participate in the entire process to aid BJP candidate Raju Bista.

The team comprises of 30 people and is looking after the logistics, speeches, location recce and other aspects of campaigning. From data crunching to spot analysis to garnering feedback post events, this team is likely to supervise and advise on everything.

“Professional election management is the need of the hour. It is good that BJP has had the sense to deploy one in Darjeeling, shows it’s importance. However, I think other parties in Bengal are yet to catch up the trend, though there are many groups who have achieved great results outside the state,” stated a political observer.

Though the BJP candidate for Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency, Raju Bista didn’t want to utter much detail, a source within the party claimed, the team is a part of an election management foundation. Throughout the country, they have been helping BJP workers and providing all possible support. Though the Varanasi team is known to have been bigger, this team is said to be from among the core group.

Speaking on the development, on condition of anonymity, a TMC worker from Siliguri claimed, “Darjeeling is a difficult and prestige fight for us. We hear this team is very well-equipped, but the amount of development works that the state government has undertaken in the 7 assembly segments cannot be overshadowed by 30 outsiders. Though we were also assured of a similar professional team, it hasn’t materialised.”

In 2014, BJP’s campaign is known to have been devised by Prashant Kishore’s IPAC.

Prashant Kishore joined Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) in September last year.
