K'pong man on the run after molesting minor
SNS, KALIMPONG, 3 APRIL 2019: An incident of molestation of a minor girl in Kalimpong has come to light through social net-working sites, while it is said that the accused, identified as Govind Sarki, has been absconding. The girl, around 11, has admitted that she was molested. Sarki, known to be a driver by profession, has a family and a two-year-old daughter.
According to the girl's family members, her mother who suffers from fluency disorder, used to walk her to school every day. "On Friday, Sarki was around the locality and volunteered to drop the girl to school, which he used to do once in a while. On the way to her school, he allegedly stopped the car in an isolated area, came out of the driver's seat and got into the back seat. He then locked the door and molested her. The girl returned home later that evening and told her mother about the incident. Her family members, on the other hand did not believe her mother because of her disorder," family sources said.
On Sunday, when the family members prepared to give the girl a bath, they asked her about the incident and she slowly revealed everything, it is learnt.The family members later took her to Sarkis house to identify him, but he was not there.
"When his photo was shown to her, she started shivering with fear," the family members said.They later filed an FIR and admitted her in the District Hospital for medical examination.
Sarki allegedly gave her Rs 10 before he abused her.
As per verbal order of the Child Welfare Committee-Alipurduar, that also looks after Kalimpong district, the girl was sent to an NGO named Bal Suraksha Abhiyan in the evening for temporary shelter. The case is filed at the Women Police Station and police sources said that they are investigating the matter.
