Harka Bahadur Chhetri Fittest Person To Represent Darjeeling In The Lok Sabha: Yogendra Yadav

Wepen.in, 8 April 2019: Dr. Yogendra Yadav, National President, Swaraj India today expressed his support in favour of Dr. Harka Bahadur Chhetri, President, All India Jana Andolan Party, who is contesting as an Independent Candidate for Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.

In a joint press conference held in Siliguri, Dr. Yadav said, “Dr. Harka Bahadur Chhetri is the fittest person to represent the interest of the people of Darjeeling Constituency in Lok Sabha – please vote for him.”

Addressing media persons, Yadav said, “both Congress and BJP have failed to provide any solution at the national level for the the long standing problems and issues of people, particularly unemployment and distress of farmers. The left has also become ineffective in dealing with these burning issues. Hence, it is time for people to reject the politics of national parties, who have become mere electoral machines.”

He went to add, “Regional parties like Trinamool Congress have also not been able to provide solutions to everyday problems and have instead adopted politics of dole rather than policies of vision that provides long term solutions. Regional aspirations and wishes have been ignored and Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency perhaps best symbolises this neglect. In these circumstances, political parties based out of Darjeeling are most suitable for understanding local aspirations and representing them in Parliament.”

He said that one can only hope that candidates like Dr. Harka Bahadur Chhetri, who has spent decades in public service and understands the needs of the constituency shall be elected by the people.

He also said that Dr. Chhetri has always presented politics of sense and not politics of nonsense – he has been a pillar of understanding the democratic aspirations of people of Darjeeling constituency and has the intellect, experience and energy to carry such aspiration to Lok Sabha and forcefully present the same on behalf of Darjeeling.

He appealed to voters of Darjeeling to overwhelmingly vote for Dr. Harka Bahadur Chhetri and send him to Lok Sabha.

Chhetri said, “time has come for alternative politics to become mainstream politics in India. Parties like Swaraj India are at the vanguard of this movement for new politics and he is happy that Jan Andolan party, which has the same ideology as Swaraj India, is being supported by Swaraj India.”

He said that it is is a very welcome development that parties practicing alternative politics are supporting each other and he expressed hope that the people of Darjeeling shall repose their fullest faith and confidence in this new politics which will start a new wave of fulfilment of democratic aspirations of people. He pledged to uphold the interest of Darjeeling and the aspirations of the people in Parliament.
