A Tale Of Two Rallies
With a lot of muscle flexing the BJP President declared that Modi’s return to the chair would toll the knell for Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal. Banerjee on the other hand requested all to join hands to help her win all 42 Lok Sabha seats from Bengal in order to dethrone Modi in Delhi.

He alleged that Mamata Banerjee is oppressing people in the Hills. “Gorkhas are being tortured here and in other parts of Bengal the BJP cadres. The injustice done to the Gorkhas will end soon” assured Shah.
Along with this he stated that the BJP is committed in working for ensuring that 11 Gorkha sub communities are accorded the ST status.
Shah’s rally was organized at the Ronaldshay Park in Kalimpong. The BJP is being backed by the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) and the Bimal Gurung faction of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha.
In Darjeeling Mamata Banerjee addressed a mammoth rally at the Darjeeling Motor Stand.
“The BJP wants unrest in the Hills. They light the fire in the Hills and Delhi adds the fuel. They do not want development and peace here. The more this place is disturbed the more the political gain for them. You have elected BJP, now is the time to ask them what they have given the Hills in the past 10 years?” stated Banerjee.
Banerjee declared the Bimal Gurung chapter as closed. “Bimal Gurung had a lot of chances to work. Those who are still with Gurung, you all are not my enemy. You are like my brothers and sisters. I appeal to you do not help them. They (don’t love Darjeeling, they don’t care about you all. They will take all the money and go abroad” stated Banerjee.
She stated that the TMC will not field candidates for the Assembly elections from the Hills. “I had asked Binoy Tamang to help me in MP elections and I will help them in MLA elections.” declared Banerjee.
Banerjee stated that her Government, way back in 2014 had first passed the recommendation for inclusion of 11 Gorkha sub communities in the West Bengal Assembly and then forwarded it to Delhi and the BJP led Union Government has been sitting over it for so many years.
Banerjee stated that a committee has already been constituted to look after the land document (Patta) issue of the tea garden, cinchona plantation workers along transfer of DI fund land.
She also stated that she would look into the grant in aid for the tea garden workers who had not got wages during the 105 day bandh.
Banerjee assured to work for the political security identity issue of the Gorkhas.
Binay Tamang, the GJM President declared that the BJP willing to go the extra mile to get votes but is not willing to work for the Hills.
“Amit Shah took out time to visit Kalimpong for an hour by helicopter on Thursday as it is elections and they need votes. The same Amit Shah and former BJP MP Ahluwalia did not get time to visit Darjeeling for an hour also when the Hills needed them in 2017 during the 105 day bandh. As an MP he could have easily diffused the situation and people would not have to suffer or lose their lives,” retorted Tamang.
