TMC push for win in Darjeeling
TT, 16 Mar 2019, Siliguri: Darjeeling district Trinamul leaders instructed office-bearers at block, ward and booth levels to get into campaign mode and assess the party's support base so that it can win the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat for the first time.
On Friday, a district committee meeting was held here in the presence of district president and state minister Gautam Deb. An array of instructions was passed on to the workers.
"It is a do-or-die situation for us here in Darjeeling seat and all leaders and workers have been asked to start campaign while keeping it in mind that we have to win the seat this time. We have Amar Singh Rai, a son-of-the-soil and a reputed academician as a candidate which will help us in the election," said Deb after the meeting.
According to him, Trinamul leaders will have a meeting with Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leaders here on Saturday. On March 18, Deb and Aroop Biswas will hold another meeting at the indoor stadium.
