NBU postpones degree exams owing to LS polls
The exams will now be held from June 3. The new routine will be made available on the university website. It may be mentioned that there are 49 colleges in North Bengal affiliated to the NBU.
"Though the districts of North Bengal are going to polls in the first three phases, we have decided to hold examinations after the elections are over. In the 1st phase on April 11, Cooch Behar and Alipurduar will go to polls. In the second phase on April 18, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Raigunj will have polling. On April 23, Balurghat, Malda North, Malda South, Jangipur and Murshidabad will go to polls in the 3rd phase," said Dilip De Sarkar, registrar, NBU. "Some colleges have been requisitioned for elections. EVMs will be kept in some. Hence the colleges will become properly functional only after counting. We have thus decided to hold the exams after the elections," he added.
"We will send the new examination routines to the colleges soon. We want to complete the examinations and hand over the results of part 3 within end of July, so that the students don't face any difficulty," added the registrar.
