BJP leader held with explosives
KOUSIK SEN, TT, 11 Mar 2019, Raiganj: The district president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has been arrested after police seized two crude bombs and a firearm from his possession here on Saturday night.
Bhakta Kumar Roy is the North Dinajpur district chief of BJYM -- the youth wing of BJP.
"We had information that Roy has obtained some crude bombs and a firearm in an illegal manner. Accordingly, a police team raided his house at ward 22 of the town and seized two bombs and a pistol. Roy has been arrested and our officers are investigating the case," said Sumit Kumar, North Dinajpur police chief.
The move has prompted the BJP to allege conspiracy while Trinamul leaders have said that Roy had brought the firearm and explosives to perpetrate violence during the ensuing Lok Sabha elections.
"As the elections are drawing near, Trinamul is using the administration to implicate our party leaders and workers in false cases," said Pradip Sarkar, a district BJP leader.
