Vehicles of SDF 3 burnt

RAJEEV RAVIDAS, TT, Gangtok: Vehicles belonging to three supporters of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front were torched by unidentified persons at different places under Soreng police station in West Sikkim in the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The SDF has demanded strong legal action against the arsonists. The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha accused the SDF supporters of torching the vehicles in order to malign the image of the opposition party.
The vehicles were set ablaze at three different places.While the government vehicle of J. B. Tamang, an advisor in the state food security and agriculture department, was completed gutted in the fire, the private vehicles of Ankit Lepcha and Rapden Sherpa, both active members of the SDF, were partially damaged in the arson.
Police sources said all the three incidents were being investigated and no arrest had been made so far.
While condemning the incidents, SDF spokesman Bhim Dahal alleged that the vehicle of R. B. Subba, the minister of human resources development department, had also been pelted with stones at Malbasay under Soreng police station on Monday night. "We demand immediate legal action against the culprits," he said.
Jacob Khaling, the SKM spokesman, has accused the SDF of staging such incidents.
