
Parks to remain shut during Holi
Amitava Banerjee | MP |24 Feb 2019 | Darjeeling: The Forest department has issued a notification stating that Gorumara National Park, Chapramari Willife Sanctuary and Neora Valley National Park will remain closed for visitors during Holi,which will fall on March 21 and 22.
The notification issued by office of the divisional forest officer, Gorumara Wildlife Division states that these protected areas shall remain closed for tourists and other visitors on March 21 and 22 due to special anti-poaching drives during ensuing "Holi" festival.
"No entry permit for tourist/ visitor, or any booking in any of the forest rest houses shall be made in any of the above protected areas during the specified period," said an official.
During festivals, Dooars and specially the forests draws huge number of tourists.
"We will have special anti poaching drives during these days hence we are compelled to keep visitors away," said Nisha Goswami, divisional forest officer, Gorumara.
