Likely to receive rainfall soon, weather set to change from Feb 24... The hilly regions of Bengal will also witness hailstorms, accompanied by rainfall
"The state of Jammu and Kashmir and a few other adjoining regions in Northern India have been receiving moderate spells of rainfall due to Western disturbances. When the disturbance from Northern India shifts eastward in the upcoming days, parts of Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand will be lashed by high to moderate amounts of rainfall.
The hilly regions of Bengal will also witness hailstorms, accompanied by rainfall," said an official of the Alipore Meteorological department.
"Places like Bankura, Medinipur, Diamond Harbour, Kolkata, 24-Parganas in Bengal and Kendujhar, Deogarh, Baleshwar and Baripada in Odisha would come under the grip of these rains," he further added.
On Wednesday, the minimum temperature in the city settled at 21.9 degree Celsius, three degree more than the normal temperature, while the maximum temperature rose to 32.6 degree Celsius, two degrees above the normal temperature.
The department also said that the temperature in the city will remain a bit above normal as the effects of northern winds have become weak in the area and the skies have been mostly cloudy.
There will also be a moderate level of temperature fluctuation every now and then, throughout the week.
"On Thursday, the temperature in the city is likely to be above normal. But Kolkata will see some relief from the ongoing warm and humid afternoons, as some good spells of rains are likely to make way towards the city from the next week," the official said.
