CPRM plans 'restore democracy' seminar

SNS, DARJEELING, 10 FEBRUARY 2019: Claiming that the state lacks democracy, the Communist Party of Revolutionary Marxist (CPRM) is all set to hold a seminar for what it has called 'restoration of democracy.'
The party has invited political outfits from the Hills and the plains, except for ruling parties in the local, state and central levels, to be part of the seminar that is scheduled to be held at the Gorkha Dukha Niwarak Samellan hall on Tuesday.
"There is no democracy in Bengal and we are holding a seminar on how to restore it. We have invited political parties from the plains and hills which are not in power. We have not invited parties like the Trinamul Congress, Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha Binoy Tamang camp and the MP, as they are the ones behind all this. The BJP might not be here, but they are doing the same at the Centre," CPRM spokesperson Gobind Rai said here today.
According to Mr Rai, political parties that were in power were being allowed to hold programmes, while others were not.
He added that representatives of about 13 political outfits have been invited to attend the meeting, which includes the CPRM, Jan Andolan Party, Gorkha National Liberation Front, Congress, and All India Gorkha League.
Leaders like Sankar Malakar of the Congress and Naxalbari Matigara MLA, and veteran CPI-M leader and MLA Asok Bhattacharya are also expected to attend the program.
