Board sets Feb 15 deadline for class routine reports
that is to be followed in these institutions.
Many of the institutions have defaulted in sending reports regarding the class routine that they were entitled to follow by the end of January. The board has set a deadline of February 15 for sending these reports.
In November 2018, the board had sent a structure of the class routine or daily time table to be followed by the schools and the heads of the respective institutions were directed to mandatorily follow the routine and accordingly sent a compliance report.
However, a number of schools have not followed the instructions.
"The board has taken a serious note of such lapses and nonchalant attitude of the schools and they may have to pay penalties as per service rules," a senior WBBSE official said.
According to a source in WBBSE, some heads of institutions have complained of non-cooperation from some teachers in complying with the standardised daily routine set by the board. There have been allegations against some teachers taking classes for less than 45 minutes, which is against the instructions of the board.
Timeliness and discipline among the teachers is of utmost importance in maintaining the standard of education in a school.
It is alleged that in many schools the teachers have a casual approach towards education, which is resulting in drop-outs.
"The state Education department is taking all possible measures to reduce the dropout rate. The board will be acting tough against those teachers who are not serious about their duties," the official said.
The class routine from the headmasters will help the board to have a clear idea of the accountability of the teachers in following the standardised daily routine.
