BNCCI to extend helping hand to start-ups, entrepreneurs from Hills
Amitava Banerjee |MP |Darjeeling: Darjeeling: Taking a cue from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BNCCI) has pledged support to entrepreneurs of this region.
The chamber has assured help to start-ups, especially in resolving grey areas in setting up new industries. The setting up of an Entrepreneur Development Institute is on the anvil in Siliguri.
On Tuesday, industrialists of North Bengal and members of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) held a meeting with the working committee of BNCCI in Siliguri.
"In the meeting, we discussed the problems faced by industrialists. We will be approaching different government departments, so that these grey areas can be resolved at the earliest," stated Satyam Roy Chowdhury, president, BNCCI.
The chamber is committed to help set up new industries in North Bengal, stated Roy Chowdhury. Different steps to promote start-ups in North Bengal were discussed at length.
"One of the issues that cropped up in the meeting was the necessity to impart training to entrepreneurs. We also discussed the opening of an Entrepreneur Development Institute (EDI) in Siliguri. This institute
will be a big help to start-ups," he added.
Every year, an International Trade Fair is organised by the BNCCI in Kolkata. "We could hold a similar fair on a smaller scale in Siliguri. The fair could commence from next year," said Roy Chowdhury.
