GNLF to form its women, youth

SNS, DARJEELING, 20 JANUARY 2019: The Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) steering committee has first decided to form the different Committees of its women's and youth wings within March this year before reconstituting the party's central committee.
It may be mentioned here that the GNLF had dissolved its various committees, along with the central committee, and formed only the steering committee recently.
After a meeting of their 17- member steering committee at their party office at Zakir Hussain Road here today, senior leader NB Chettri said, "It was decided today that the committees of the women'swing and our youth wing will be formed within March first week. All the committees had been dissolved last year and this is our routine work to reconstitute them again."
"We have formed an 11- member organizing committee for the women's wing for that, and a 13-member organizing committee for the youth wing that will form the central committee of those wings along with the branch committee. The central committee, on the other hand, will have more than
50 members and will also include members of our women's wing and youth wing." said Mr Chettri.
Speaking about the Sixth Schedule demand, and the lobby they would make at the Centre, Mr Chettri said, "The term of the government at the Centre is almost over, so we will not lobby there right now, as the present government does not have much time left to work. We have to see which government comes at the Centre first as we are ready to work with anyone for Sixth Schedule."
GNLF leaders, however, maintained that they had not yet discussed the Lok Sabha elections and were waiting tor the notification and the political scenario to become clearer.
"We have been getting feelers from different parties for the elections, but we have not thought of anything about that," said Mr Chettri.
