CM calls opposition parties `anti Nepali'
SUJAL PRADHAN, EOI, Geyzing, 8 Jan 2019: Chief Minister Pawan Chamling today once again lambasted the Opposition saying their activities were inmical to the interests of the Nepali community in Sikkim. Chamling made the comment during his address delivered at the concluding Janta Mela, the SDF government's flagship programme, held at Kyongsa Ground, Geyzing. The Chief Minister was the chief guest there. The mela series began on January 16 and with today's mela a total of seven melas were held this year.
``They are telling the Centre that LT community should get their reserved seats from existing 32 assembly seats and if this is be so they are anti--Nepali because if 5 seats from 32 are awarded to LT community then the majority Nepali community will get only 12 seats which is injustice and undemocratic,'' Chamling said.
The Chief Minister also showered sops on the poor and needy from different parts of the West District. Some of the items distributed on the occasion were Electronic Rice Cookers, Water Filters, Compost Bins, Sound System, Samajik Seva Bhatta, Financial Assistance for purchase of religious robes, Oxen for Ploughing and Breeding, Milch Cow, financial incentive for setting up business Enterprises to disabled persons, Incentives under CM’s Start-up Scheme, House allotment certificates under CMRHM Phase II, etc were handed over etc.
