State schools to have syllabus put up in class

State schools to have syllabus put up in classSOUMITRA NANDI | MP | 16 Dec 2018 | Kolkata: The state Education department has made a unique plan to arouse curiosity among students concerning the syllabus of different subjects.
The classrooms will soon have attractive posters containing information about the syllabus and what should be taught in a class by the teachers.
The department will put up such posters in every class room right from primary to the higher secondary level in the state schools.
"The students will have a clear idea about what they need to learn and would also be able to know whether a teacher is imparting correct lessons on the matter. In recent times, there have been complaints from students that a section of teachers do not cover the syllabus properly. This method needs to be addressed," a senior official of the state School Education department said.
According to the official, such posters will also be stuck outside classrooms so that the parents also have an idea of what is being taught to their wards and whether they are being able to comprehend the lessons. The department is also laying emphasis on parent-teacher meetings from time to time so that guardians are also aware of the his wards' progress in studies.
Internal assessment test is held thrice in a year in all schools — March-April, August and November-December to have an idea on the outcome of students.
"This is a welcome move from the state government. But a teacher is the best person to understand the learning outcome of a student," said Swapan Mondal, general secretary of Bangiya Sikhak O Sikhakarmi Samiti, which is a noted teachers' organization
in the state.
