Laxmi Limbu receives Kaleybung Ratna Puraskar ...Roshan Rai awarded Excellence in Journalism

KalimNews, Kalimpong 15th Dec 2018: Laxmi Limbu Kaushal, Deputy Director of CII received the 7th "KaleybungRatna Puraskar" awarded by Kalimpong Press Club. Roshan Rai Bureau Chief of Himalaya Darpan Mirik was awarded the "Excellence in Journalism". 
On the occasion of 20th foundation day of Kalimpong Press Club both Limbu and Rai were presented the awards during a ceremony held in a hotel in Kalimpong. The programme was organised jointly by Eastern Himalayan Journalist Union an affiliate of Indian Journalists Union and Dainandini News and Kalimpong Press Club. Laxmi Limbu was awarded in the field of Business and Industry.

In the programme Dr. R. P. Dhakal spoke on the prospect of development of Kalimpong as a new District. 
The programme was conducted by Umesh Tamang and Nisha Chhetri and addressed by the chief guest Dr. Viswanath, District Magistrate of Kalimpong, Arun Kumar Rasaily, President of the club, A.K.Rai, Secretary, Laxmi Limbu and Roshan Rai.
Laxmi Limbu Kaushal is the Head of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Sikkim & North Bengal. She was born on 3rd May 1974 and was nurtured by her father, Late Parshuram Limbu, who was a Police officer at Arunachal Pradesh and a recipient of the President’s medal. Laxmi Limbu is a resident of Sindebung Fatak, Kalimpong. She acquired her primary education from Don Bosco Shillong and pursued Political Science Hons from St. Josephs College, Darjeeling in the year 1995. She actively participated in NCC, and was the recipient of “ C “ Certificate and was one of the awardees of Governors Medal as Best Cadet from West Bengal and Sikkim in 1992. She later pursued her post Graduate Diploma in Tea Management in National Institute of Tea Management at Shiv Mandir, Siliguri and was a recipient of Gold Medal and the Best Student in 1996. 
Laxmi Limbu started her career as a tea planter in 1997 (i.e when she was 23 years old) she was appointed as the first woman tea planter and later joined Goodricke Group, worked at Barnesbeg Tea Estate as Asst Manager. 
She is also a recipient of the Star Achievers Award as the most enterprising Woman in Siliguri followed by a lot of recognition and felicitation. The Confederation of Indian Industry was founded over 118 years ago, it is a non-government and non-profit organization who works to create and sustain an environment favorable to the development of India as a whole.
The awardee of Excellence in Journalism, Roshan Rai is the Chief of Mirik Bureau of Himalaya Darpan and he has been working as a journalist since 20 years. 
During the programme its members Manoj Rai, cameramen and correspondent of Zee 24 Ghanta and Nisha Chhetri, correspondent of the The Statesman, the two recipients of Titan of Media award were also felicitated along with Shanti Thatal, News reader of Dainandini News and recipient of Nation Builder Award of Rotary Kalimpong. 
An appreciation also was conferred to Ravi Pradhan, Chairman of Kalimpong Municipality for his special initiatives for the development of Kalimpong Municipality. Kalimpong Press Club instituted Kaleybung Ratna Puraskar from the year 2008 on the occasion  of  its tenth year of establishment.
The objective of initiating this award is to encourage and honour persons of Kalimpong Sub Division for their contribution in certain fields categorised by the Club viz. Adventure (including rescue), Agriculture(all allied fields), Sports & Athletics, Business and Industry, Education, Environment, Literature, Journalism (Print and Electronic), Film-Videographic World, all Professions, Social Service, Health Service, Medical Science and Research / Studies, Fine Arts, Creative Politics, Arts and others.
