We're all united to fight against BJP to save this nation: Mamata

Were all united to fight against BJP to save this nation: MamataMP | Kolkata: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee met in Kolkata and discussed issues related to the formation of "Mahagatbandhan" of the political parties in the Opposition to oust the BJP government in the forthcoming general elections in 2019 as it has become imperative to "protect the nation" since "democracy is in danger".
It was around 4.15 pm when the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief arrived at the state Secretariat, Nabanna, and was received by Mamata Banerjee.
The meeting between the two senior leaders continued for more than an hour. Before leaving Nabanna, Naidu and Banerjee held a joint Press conference where both leaders spoke about the change in scheduled Opposition meet on November 22 due to Assembly elections in several states.
Naidu maintained: "Earlier, we wanted to meet on November 22. Because of the on-going elections in four states, the decision has been taken. We will call the meeting before the Winter Session of Parliament. Those who are all opposing the saffron party, will join together and discuss key issues. We will chalk out a programme to move forward for protecting this nation. We are mutually discussing the matter and the date will be announced very soon."
Banerjee added: "In December, we are meeting before the session of Parliament. Now, everyone is busy with the elections. After all, this is over, we will meet and chalk out the future course of action."
Naidu further said: "I came here to meet Mamataji. Today, as senior leaders, Mamataji and I have responsibilities to save the nation and to save the democracy. We want to protect this nation."
He further stated that any institution including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), Income Tax, the Reserve Bank of India and even Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) are under "severe pressure".
Naidu also raised the issue of demonetisation stating it to be a big farce. He stated that growth of the country has become stagnant and the economy has come to a standstill. At the same time, petrol and diesel prices are increasing almost every day and there is inflation as well. He further stated that there is intolerance towards minorities and even politicians are facing severe threat. "Because of all these issues, we need to unite and protect this great country. This is our responsibility," he said adding that the discussion with Banerjee, who is fighting against all anti-people moves from the beginning, has been "very good".
After the meeting with Naidu, Banerjee said: "We are grateful to him. We have also invited him for the January 19 meeting at the Brigade Parade Ground. Today, we have discussed in detail the future plan of action. We are all together and will unitedly fight against the BJP to save this nation."
In connection with January 19 meeting called by her party to oust the BJP in 2019 general elections, Banerjee stated: "Apart from one or two political parties, all have confirmed their presence at the mega event and we are very grateful to them." Naidu has also confirmed his presence in the mammoth rally. In reply to a question about Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati's stand in connection with joining the anti-BJP alliance, Naidu said: "We are in touch with Mayawatiji. Those who are against BJP and want to save this nation will work together and it is our mission."
