Investors meet for tourism

TT, 04 Nov 2018, Siliguri: A meeting was convened by the state tourism department here on Saturday to bring in private investments at "Bhorer Alo" -- the mega tourism hub planned at Gazoldoba -- witnessed response from prospective investors who elaborated on their proposed projects at the site.
The project, located on the bank of the Teesta and spread over in 208 acre, was inaugurated by chief minister Mamata Banerjee on October 3 this year. As of now, there are five cottages and two tents, which have been set up by the department.
Also, three private groups, who have taken plots at the site, are building resorts and budget hotels.
"Added to these, there are plans to develop a golf course, two star category resorts, a lake resort, food court with reception area and souvenir shop, and another budgeted resort. Areas have been earmarked for all these projects and we need to bring in private investments. That is why, the meeting was convened," said a source at the department.
"We have invested over Rs 300 crores for development of infrastructure at the project site. There are plans to hold similar meets in Calcutta and Delhi to get more investors, after which tenders for each of these projects would be floated," said state tourism minister Gautam Deb.
