Animal activists hit K'pong streets

SNS, KALIMPONG, 4 November 2018: Animal rights activists in Kalimpong today marked the International Cube of Truth Day that seeks to stop cruelty meted out to animals.
Clad in black and wearing Guy Fawkes masks, the activists associated with'Anonymous for the Voiceless represented 'Cube demos' (violent footage of animals), even as volunteers and activists like Yogita Chettri and Diki Tshering explained at Dambar Chowk here that the event was meant to
"align our values, and be kind and compassionate towards all beings," while also promoting veganism.
"Switching to a vegan lifestyle is good for our health, environment and animals," Ms Chettri said.
It may be mentioned here that 'Anonymous for the Voiceless' marked its International Cube of Truth Day on 3 November in more than 60 countries.
'Anonymous for the Voiceless' specialises in street activism for animals through the use of footages on animal exploitation. The footages are displayed to the public.
"It is difficult to make people understand the pain the animals suffer, as people just love cats and dogs here, but there have beers instances when people have taken a look at the footages and actually turned vegan on the spot," said Ms Chettri, adding, "We all should empathize with the pain of all animals and go against slaughter."
"Veganism is a practice ot abstaining from the use of animal products, apart from diet, which is followed in most of the countries now," she said.
