Roshan claims meet in Delhi
Roshan Giri |
VIVEK CHHETRI, TT, 04 Oct 2018, Darjeeling: Roshan Giri has claimed on social media that the Union home secretary would hold a meeting with the Bimal Gurung faction of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in Delhi on Friday.
Giri attributed his statement to Lt Col (retd) Ramesh Allay, former deputy chief executive of the GTA and "central committee member, GJM." Allay could not be contacted. Giri's claim could not be independently confirmed from the Union home ministry.
"A meeting between the leaders of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha and the Union home secretary has been fixed on 5th October 2018 at 3pm at North Block New Delhi to discuss all related issues. Col Retd Ramesh Alley, Central Committee Member, GJM." "The union home minister had promised to call this meeting within a fortnight of lifting the 104-day statehood strike. It is suddenly being called after more than a year," said an observer.
Many believe that the BJP had antagonised the hill people for failing to intervene during the last year's agitation.
