Pawan Chamling returns with award from Rome to a warm welcome

SANJAY AGARWAL, EOI, Gangtok, 23 Oct 2018: Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling was accorded a warm welcome by his Cabinet colleagues, supporters of the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front and a large crowd at the border town of Rangpo on Tuesday on his return from Rome after receiving the prestigious Future Policy Gold award at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization headquarters.
Chamling dedicated the award to all the people of Sikim and congratulated al the residents of the State for receiving the prestigious award. In his speech, he said that due to the dedication and hardship of the people that Sikkim had reached the world arena with the organic theme. Sikkim achieved the honour for kbeing the first fully organic state in the world. Sikkim had also received the JRD Tata Memorial Award for the second time, he mentioned. He said he had given the call for making the entire world fully organic within 2050.
Before reaching Sikkim, the Chief Minister was also accorded a warm welcome at Bagdogra airport by youths. At Rangpo, the market was decorated with SDF party flags, festoons and colourful lights. Party members, leaders and youths arrived early. The welcome speech was delivered by SDF vice president D. B. Thapa.
