42 held for cheating in constable recruitment testMP | Kolkata: The Criminal Investigation Department (State) has nabbed 42 persons across the state for allegedly cheating in the preliminary written test for recruitment of constables in West Bengal Police. 
A total of 28 criminal cases have been initiated under several police units of the state in this regard. Several devices were also seized. 
to some of the CID officials, they got tip offs from various districts stating that several job seekers are planning to cheat during the written examination.
Upon receiving the tip offs, the CID officials in every district were informed along with the concerned district police units. 
On Sunday, before the entry into the examination centre, a thorough checking was initiated by the police and the CID. During the process, several devices and mobile phones were found concealed in garments, socks and sole of shoes of the examinees. 
They were immediately detained. Later, it was found that some of them were about to use an improvised wireless device comprising one receiver and one earphone.
The receiving device looks a credit card which is meant for only one way connection. 
Though it is not a mobile phone, it can be used as a hotline connected with only one number. During the interrogation, accused persons informed that they had accomplishes outside but police have not found any one. 
It is suspected that the arrested persons might be part of a racket. 
The CID is now investigating to nab the other members who were there to help the examinees outside the centre. The devices found from the accused persons will be checked thoroughly to understand the mechanism.
Officials were surprised to see the receiving device in the shape of a credit card. 
Apart from the CID, Barasat Police also apprehended five on charges of attempting to cheat by using modern electronic gadgets while appearing for the written examination. Some bluetooth devices were found from the five accused. Police said all five of them are residents of Nadia and they had applied for the job of constables of the state police. 
They went to Bongaon on Monday to appear for the written test. 
Their movement led to the suspicion and the policemen posted at the entrance of examination took them for a thorough checking. 
a bid to connect to a dedicated phone number, the user has to long press the device and the task becomes easier when it is fitted under the shoe sole. 
A senior police officer said: "It could be the first time when youths were caught with such devices. The matter has been informed to all concerned officials."
