Bagdogra murder probe booty

TT, Jul 28, 2018, Siliguri: Siliguri Metropolitan Police have recovered cash, gold and silver from Sanjay Tamang, prime accused in the double murder case at Sukantanagar in Upper Bagdogra.
They have also found an iron rod, which is suspected to be the weapon that was used to kill Ajay Kushwaha and his wife Meena.
During investigation and by interrogating Sanjay and Bhumika Sewa, his girlfriend who used to work under Ajay, the police have also found that the latter had exploited and harassed Bhumika.
This had left Sanjay agitated at his girlfriend's employer.
On Sunday, Ajay and Meena were found dead at their house. Both were bludgeoned with blunt weapons.
Ajay was in the business of providing male and female employees for catering services in events and hotels. On Tuesday, police arrested the duo for the murders
"They are in custody and based on the information divulged by Sanjay, we have recovered Rs 1.87 lakh in cash, along with 350 grams of gold and over 500 grams of silver ornaments. They had looted the cash and the ornaments from the victims' house," said an official.
"We have also found that he was angry with Ajay Kushwaha for exploiting his girlfriend. The victim had even sent lewd messages in his girlfriend's cell phone, Sanjay has said. This had further agitated him," the official added.
Tarun Haldar, the deputy commissioner (zone II) of Siliguri Metropolitan Police, said there are still some grey areas.
"We are continuing the investigating to collect more information," said Haldar.
