Gangtok to pray for Khatua girl
RAJEEV RAVIDAS, TT Apr 20, 2018, Gangtok: Various organisations of Gangtok under the banner of Sikkim Helping Hands will organise an all-religious prayer service at Titanic Park here on Saturday to pray for the soul of the girl from Khatua district of Jammu and Kashmir, who was raped and murdered.
Thukchuk Lachungpa, the president of Helping Hands, said here on Thursday that apart from the prayer service, a candle light vigil to protest the rape and murder would also be held at the same venue. "I have no words to condemn such an incident. We in Sikkim have never heard of such a barbaric act being committed against a minor. For the sake of humanity, we must all come together in condemning the incident and pray for the soul of the victim," he said.
Lachungpa said various organisations had come together to organise the prayer-cum-protest.
