It may be mentioned that the state IT department has taken up several measures in the past six years to ensure cyber security in the state.
The Cyber Security Centre of Excellence was set up and it was a major step in driving Bengal towards cyber security. The collection, analysis and dissemination of information related to cyber security take place from this Centre of Excellence. At the same time, necessary tasks during any emergency situation will get coordinated from here and it would also issue guidelines and advisories to avoid even a single cyber attack.
It has been learnt that various organisations dealing with cyber security will be discussing the issue to prepare a blueprint according to which the cyber security will be further strengthened in the state. Experts from universities will also be present at the workshop.
This comes at a time when various IT majors have decided to invest further in Bengal. According to a senior official of the state IT department, such initiatives will help to provide further boost to the state's IT sector. It makes the top brass of the companies feel that there is minimum risk of any cyber attack when there is a Cyber Security Centre of Excellence.
Moreover, the state government is giving major stress on e-governance and all the departments have been directed to take necessary steps to ensure proper implementation of the same.
Almost all the departments have completed the major portion of the task of implementing e-governance system in which the office work of the state government will become completely paperless. In such a situation, Cyber Security Centre of Excellence will be playing a major role in ensuring security of data. The Centre is equipped with all sorts of modern gadgets and facilities required to combat cyber crime. The inference from the discussion will help the state to prepare better.
