Bimal hopes for good things, Binoy wants peace to stay

SNS, 2 March 2018, Darjeeling: Leaders of both the factions of the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) yesterday sent greetings to the people for Holi, the festival of colours that the region celebrated today.

While the Morcha leader Bimal Gurung sent an audio clip from hiding on their social media group, the other leader, Binoy Tamang, sent his greetings in a press release.

In the little over three minute audio clip, Mr Gurung mostly prayed to God for good things to take place in the coming days, while Mr Tamang appealed t o the people to maintain peace and asked them to stay united.

"I would like to wish everyone a heartfelt Holi. The truth will always remain the truth, and the belief in truth will not vanish or be hidden. On the occasion of Holi, a festival of truth. I pray to God that the community be bestowed with colours and light. Like in Holi, the colours should come in our lives and in occasions, for which we should all be together and united in the coming festivals," said Mr Gurung. 

"I extend my greetings to the Gorkha community and others. I now want to pray to God during the festival of Holi that from now on, we have only good things and that the bad things should be taken away. For all the good things that will come, we should all work together," he added_

On the other hand, Mr Tamang said, 'I extend my greetings to all the Hill people during this festival of colours. I wish that the life of everyone is filled with happiness, peace and the different colours of prosperity. I also like to appeal to the people to maintain peace and goodwill among each other."

The press release further maintained that like the seven colours of the rainbow, the different communities in the Hills, the Terai and the Dooars, have stayed together united, "be it the Tibetans, Lepcha, Adivasis or Nepalis, which need to continue always."

"Wishing everyone a happy Holi, I request everyone to maintain peace and stay united," Mr Tamang said.
