Bimal Gurung's drivers, bodyguard among 4 held

MP, Darjeeling: Four persons who were known to be close aides of GJM leader Bimal Gurung, have been arrested. Gurung's bodyguard Uday Gurung, along with drivers Siddhant Biswakarma and Anup Pradhan, were arrested from Tukvar area near Darjeeling town.

The three were produced at the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, Siliguri on Wednesday. "They have been charged under sections pertaining to armed rioting, arson and spreading violence. While Biswakarma has been remanded to 5 days of police custody, the other two have been sent to judicial custody for 5 days," stated Sudip Rai Vasunia, Assistant Public Prosecutor.

In another incident, one Yogen Rai, who used to work as a guard at Bimal Gurung's residence, was arrested from Malbazar, Jalpaiguri. He was wanted in a Darjeeling Sadar police station case, dated June 9, 2017.
