ANIRBAN CHOUDHURY, TT, Feb 9, 2018, Alipurduar: An attack on an Alipurduar tea garden manager and the ransacking of its office by some workers triggered a pre-lockout notice on Friday.
Sources said Chottu Oraon, a permanent worker at Majherdabri Tea Estate, was served a show-cause for not performing his job properly. On Thursday , some workers hit Chinmoy Dhar, the manager, while talks were under way on the action against Chottu.
Later, other workers thrashed Chottu, after which Sakhi Oraon, Chottu's brother, ransacked the manager's office. "The management should not close the garden because of a single worker," said Mohan Sharma, president of Cha Bagan Trinamul Mazdoor Union.
