Mukul holds CM responsible for recent unrest in Hills
SNS, Siliguri, 28 September 2017: BJP leader Mukul Roy held Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee responsible for the recent unrest in the Hills. Mr Roy also demanded a CBI investigation into the death of police officer Amitabha Malik.
"Mamata Banerjee has created the Gorkhaland issue again. The issue emerged in a new shape in the state because of her.The problems were there in the Hills during the 34 years rule of the previous Left Front government. There was Darjeeling Gorkha Hill Council. After coming to power she scrapped the hills setup and set up the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration after discussions with Bimal Gurung Mr Roy said in a public meeting in Siliguri today.
"She created division in the hills based community on the ethnic grounds by setting up of different development boards. Bimal Gurung had addressed her as mother. He had fully supported her to oust the Left government. Now she is promoting Binay Tamang, after discarding Bimal Gurung," Mr Roy said.
" If Bimal Gurung is an accused in the Madan Tamang murder case, then why should Binay Tamang be spared? If search operations are conducted to trace Bimal Gurung as he has been booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act then why not for Binay Tamang? Mamata Banerjee has to answer this because she is responsible for the renewed unrest in the Hills, he added.
Mr Roy demanded a CBI probe into the killing of police sub inspector Amitabha Malik.
Amitabha Malik has been recently killed and it is said that he was killed in an encounter. But no one lease had died in the encounter There are some questions over how he was killed. We are demanding an immediate CBI investigation to unearth the truth as to whether the body of a Bengali was required then, "he said.
Highlighting other issues Mr Roy said not a single department was functional at Uttarkanya, the branch secretariat for north Bengal.
He also said a CBI investigation was not allowed into the Siliguri Jalpaiguri Development Authority corruption cases to suppress the truth.
The BJP leader said Trinamul Congress came to power with the slogan 'change, not revenge,'"There has been no change in the past seven years in the regime of the present government, rather whoever opposes Mamata Banerjee is sent to jail."
Meanwhile, the Trinamul Congress said Mr Roy's speeches were provocative and part of an attempt to destabilise the peace in the Hills."The present peace has been brought to the Hills with the relentless efforts of chief minister Mamata Banerjee. Since BJP has lost its ground in the Hills and people rejected them, the party leaders are giving provocative speeches to destabilise the region," said a senior party leader.
The Trinamul Congress will organise a rally to spread the message on unity and integration in Siliguri tomorrow
The BJP organised today's public meeting as part of the Jan Jangaran Yatra of the party.
Speaking at the event, the state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said Miss Mamata Banerjee visited Sagar yesterday to take a holy dip to wash away her sins.
