Morcha Woman bail cancelled

TT, 15 December 2017, Siliguri: The High Court of Sikkim on Friday cancelled the bail granted to Sabitri Rai, a leader of Gorkha Janmukti Nari Morcha.
On September 1, as a team of the state police had conducted raid in south Sikkim district in search of Morcha chief Bimal Gurung and had nabbed Rai. She was produced in a court in Namchi and was granted bail.
This had made the CID move to the High Court of Sikkim. Lawyers Rajdeep Majumdar, Avrajyoti Das and Mayukh Mukherjee made their submission before the bench of Justice Meenakshi M Rai, and appealed to set aside the bail.
"The High Court asked Sabitri Rai to reply as why her bail will not be cancelled. She was served a notice which however returned. On Friday, the High Court ordered cancellation of the bail," said Avrajyoti, one of the lawyers.
Sources said after being released on bail, Sabitri, who is wanted in cases pertaining to the violence in the hills, has gone into hiding.
